    About Hal Elrod

Hal Elrod’s story is seriously amazing. At 19 years old, he was hired as a salesperson for Cutco Knives. In his first 10 days, he broke a sales record that had been in place for years. This was a revelation to him as he had not been a high achiever growing up. It created a new identity and mindset for him-he started believing that he could achieve what he put his mind to.

A year and a half later, after giving a speech which got a standing ovation, he was on cloud nine when he was hit head-on (and subsequently on his driver’s side as well) in a crash at a net speed of 140 mph. He died on the scene and a few times over the intervening days, until he woke from a coma 6 days later with multiple broken bones and brain damage.

He told his parents he would walk again but, if not, he would be the happiest wheelchair-bound person anyone knew. The circumstances he found himself in were the worst case scenario but by accepting them, they could have no effect on his emotions. He was able to be happy and grateful to the point that medical staff thought he was in denial! Two weeks later his body was healing so rapidly that the doctors let him take his first step in rehab. All the cliché things we are told about mind over matter, etc., really proved to be true.

Eight years later, he hit a point in life that felt even lower than his accident when he lost everything in the 2008 financial crisis. Facing depression and loss, it was a series of events that led him to hear a quote by Jim Rohn that was the catalyst for changing his life. It was the catalyst to change his life. That quote inspired him to go on a quest for the #1 practice that the world’s most successful people do. He actually came up with six and the next day he had his Miracle Morning-his life changed because although it was still a mess on the outside, internally he felt unstoppable.

That book has now sold over 100,000 copies, Hal has realized his dream of becoming a public speaker, now getting engagements all over the world, and the Miracle Morning Community, one of the most engaged online communities at over 23,000 members and growing by 100 members per day!

    Most Influential Mentor:

    • Jesse Levian, the 23-year old who was the #1 manager in Cutco Knives’ history when Hal started.
Jesse shaped Hal’s mindset in terms of what he could accomplish and achieve. He would not have reached his own goals and broken records without Jesse’s guidance.

    Facing Adversity

    • After waking from a coma, he determined that accepting your situation is the key to emotional freedom. There is no point in wishing away what you cannot change.
When we think of ‘everything happens for a reason’, we are conditioned to think that the reasons are predetermined. That’s not true-we can choose the reasons that destroy and disempower us or we can choose the reasons that allow us to learn from our adversity and become stronger.

    Biggest Challenges:

    • It was actually not his near-fatal car accident; it was during the 2008 financial crisis. He lost everything-his new home, his clients, his financial security.
    • Because of this loss, he suffered deep depression and felt borderline suicidal until he experienced his own Miracle Morning.

    His Miracle Morning:

    • When he felt empowered internally, he knew it only be a matter of time before his ‘outside’ matched his ‘inside’.
He expected it to take 6-12 months. It only took 2 before his life was back on track and improving!
    • He never intended for that experience to become a book, but when he started teaching it to his coaching clients and they all came back experiencing the same personal satisfaction and success, he knew he had a responsibility to show it to the world.

    The SAVERS:

    • The SAVERS are the 6 Principles of The Miracle Morning-what we need to do every day to achieve greatness, whether it’s in our personal or our business lives.
    • They are Silence, Affirmations, Visualization/Visioning, Exercise, Reading and Scribing.

    Don’t Hit That Snooze Button:

    • Even if you don’t have the book yet, do your own Miracle Morning 30-day challenge.
The essence of the Miracle Morning is about waking up before you have to and dedicating time to your personal development so you can become, one day at a time, the person you desire to be.
Why do you need to wake up early? Because hitting the snooze button is starting your day by being a procrastinator. You are literally programming your subconscious to say that you don’t have self-discipline.

Working with people from around the world for the past 20 years one common denominator I have seen is the dislike for Mondays.
This is mainly because most of us do not like what they do for a living and the thought of starting another week stresses them out.

Did you know that more people suffer from heart attacks on Monday mornings than any other day?

What if you could look at Monday differently?

20: Freedym Millionaire Lifestyle From A Coffee Shop With Ryan Lee

    Daniel Giordano

    About Ryan Lee

Ryan Lee has a borderline obsession with entrepreneurship and independence. His life mission is to help as many people as he can live a better life.

Ryan started his first web site back in 1999 while still working full-time at a children’s rehab hospital. That site was to promote his sideline personal training business. This was BEFORE youtube, facebook, twitter and just about anything that’s cool now.

He grew that one fitness site into massive empire spanning multiple markets which now generate 7-figures per month of income in everything from health and nutrition to software and membership sites.

Ryan is the author of 2 books “The Millionaire Workout” and “Passion to Profits”. His live sell-out events have become legendary including the Continuity Summit and DotComXpo.

He has also contributed to the NY Times Best-Selling Series “The Worst Case Scenario Business Survival Guide” and has been featured in dozens of books including Moonlighting on the Internet, Masters of Marketing, Attention! This Book will Make You Money, and The Phenomenon movie. And he was also featured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal, the cover of Millionaire Blueprints magazine and dozens of other major media outlets.

He lives in New Canaan, CT with his wife Janet, and their 4 young children (Jordyn, Lauryn, Camryn and Jake). You can usually find him in the morning working from Starbucks, catching a movie in the afternoon and taking his kids to endless birthday parties and sports on the weekend. Oh yes, the life of an entrepreneur.

    Ryan’s Story:

Ryan Lee started his professional career right after college as a recreational therapist who became a successful entrepreneur in the fitness and health space and is now expanding into helping other entrepreneurs live their ultimate lifestyles through his program, Freedym Academy.

After graduating from Ithaca College, he became a therapist in a children’s rehab hospital, as well as becoming certified as a physical trainer. While there, he started his own website part time with just a $20 ‘investment’. Because he was an athlete, he specialized in high-level performance training and offered training programs via his site, ‘Complete Conditioning’.

It wasn’t long before a major company noticed him and offered him a job. Literally 2 months after quitting his children’s rehab job and making the leap to the new company, the ‘dot.com’ bubble burst and he had to scramble again, getting a job at another internet-based company. He stayed there for 7 months and hated all of them and became a gym teacher.

During this period, he became really serious about his website and turned it into a paid membership site in 2001. It exploded and within 6 months, he was making $6K a month, which convinced him and his wife that it was time to dedicate his full energy into developing it even further. That was 15 years and countless websites ago! He is now a full-time entrepreneur and coach whose mission is to help other entrepreneurs realize their dreams.

    Most Influential Person:

    • In terms of business, he doesn’t have just one mentor. He has taken away multiple lessons and pieces of advice from several leaders.
    • He believes in investing heavily in yourself and your own self-education.
    • The key is in taking the information you learn and applying it immediately.

    Biggest Challenges:

    • At one point, one of his mentees stole several clients which hurt him financially and emotionally.
    • At another point, he was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis-it’s very hard to run a business and be a leader full of energy when you’re exhausted.
    • At the end of the day, life and entrepreneurship are full of bumps and bruises.
    • The specific challenge doesn’t matter-it’s about the lessons you learned from the situation and how you used it for growth.

    Building a Strong Foundation:

    • Every industry goes through change and with the internet, those changes come at lightning speed.
    • Too many entrepreneurs focus on just one technology trend-you need to be able to evolve and adapt.
    • When you have a strong foundation, you can build and expand in any direction.

    Just Get it Started:

    • Perfectionism is the kiss of death-if you’re waiting to get it exactly right, you will not make it as an entrepreneur.
    • In today’s world, 20 and 30 year plans are ridiculous. Things move quickly and they change constantly. Just start it and figure it out as you go.
    • Don’t spend your time worrying about small details like business cards and your corporate structure right away-invest your energy into what gets you the sale.

    Spirituality is Important:

    • It doesn’t really matter what religion you do or don’t practice; any form of spirituality is beneficial.
    • At the root of all religions are the core values of being a good person and doing the ‘right thing’ by other people.
    • Your spirituality (or faith) can be a way for you and your family to bond and celebrate each other.

    Defining living in your Purpose:

    • Figure out what’s most important to you and build your business around that.
    • For him, it was never about the money, it’s about the freedom of entrepreneurship
    • There’s no point in working around the clock to make tons of money if you’re not enjoying your life.

Advice on how to be All-In:

    • Embrace the “I don’t know”. Look at your venture as an opportunity to be creative and have fun.
    • Remember that it’s not about your idea-it’s about your market.
    • Figure out who you’re serving and niche it down until you become the clear and obvious choice for your potential buyers.

His programs are designed for today’s fast food society and social media mentality; they are interactive, impactful, and innovative. Some of his clients have included: HBO, Perry Ellis, HP, Marriott IVC, Trump Network and many more.

One quote that he is known for and truly believes in is:
“Live Life, Don’t Let Life Live You.” – Bert Oliva

    Bert’s Story:

Bert Oliva came to the United States, as an infant, with just his mother, who was fleeing the Communist regime in Cuba.

He had no father, grandparents or siblings, and spent a lot of time with his mom while she worked at jobs such as housecleaning. At the time, they were living in poverty, in an apartment house where 6 families had to share a bathroom. As a small child, however, you don’t really notice the differences between rich and poor and his mother taught him from a young age “We are poor but we’re not broke”-a mindset he has carried throughout his whole life.

As a young man, his first job was with Xerox, whom he credits with giving him some of the best training possible in the business world. That environment is where he became aware of personal development. He invested his whole being and became very involved with every opportunity that he could at Xerox and through that, he met mentors that he now counts as peers and lifelong friends.

After Xerox, he started his own company, Hook It Up.Com, a successful venture that went from 4 employees to 58. He was set for a bright future and had great people willing to invest but was hit hard by the internet crash and that company folded. He reinvented himself and his future by forming BOWA World, a company that is still going strong after 21 years and is also his vehicle for participating in charitable ventures worldwide.

    Most Influential Person:

    • His mom. She never told him anything was impossible-she taught him that as long as you do everything with your whole heart and work hard, you can succeed.
    • She was really his first mentor and so many of his values are from her. To this day, he loves speaking to women and children and that is because of her. He is very aware of how much she sacrificed to provide a good life for him.

    Biggest Challenges:

    • When he lost his internet business, it took a while to rebuild and become successful again.
    • But, when you have learned the right tools, from the right people, they are for the rest of your life.
    • Don’t look at the past like a ‘failure’. Live for the present and make the most of the tools you’ve been given.

    Life’s Lowest Point:

    • Professionally, when he lost his computer business in the ‘Dot Com’ fallout and went from owning his own company and having a pretty affluent status to living in a warehouse and having to hide the car to avoid it being repossessed.
    • Emotionally, when his mom passed away. For 44 years, she was his mom, his dad, his everything. When she passed, it was like losing all of his family members at one time.

    Defining Success?:

    • Success is about balance. Too much of anything can be a bad thing.
    • Everyone’s definition of success is different and depends upon your personal goals.
    • Life is an amazing journey-you are going to meet the right people at the right time on your path.
    • Be mindful that true success takes real time and work-if someone promises you can become rich overnight, don’t take that class!

    Defining living in your Purpose:

    • Be a student of life. When you live in this awareness, you realize that you have mentors all around you.
    • Know that everyone around you has something to teach-always take those opportunities.
    • The day you stop learning is the day you stop living.

Advice on how to be All-In:

    • Today’s world moves very fast-you need to constantly be evolving to meet changes.
    • Start living life. Don’t stay in the past, don’t obsess about the future. Live life in the present.
    • Know exactly what you want so you can start living your purpose for the rest of your life.

18: From Serving Aces to Combating Life with a Black Belt Experience, Ken Smith Teaches with Excellence in Mind and Body

    Daniel Giordano

    About Master Ken Smith

Master Ken Smith was born and raised in Massachusetts. He is a former USPTA tennis professional and originally began martial arts training to improve his tennis game. He quickly realized that the value and benefits of the martial arts went far beyond tennis. He immediately became a serious martial arts student, even though he still plays tennis in his spare time. By the time he received his 1st degree Black Belt, he knew he wanted to teach the martial arts full time and make it his personal and professional work. He opened his first school in Massachusetts in 1994. His dislike of snow shoveling and cold weather brought him to sunny Florida in 1998 where he opened his Royal Palm Beach school.

Master Ken is a 7th degree Black Belt, a T’ai Chi Master, a Chi Kung Master, and a Master Instructor. He is a consummate teacher who loves his students and who loves to teach!

Master Ken strives for excellence and promotes a healthy and balanced internal and external life. He is also a super fun guy who loves what he does and it shows.

    Ken’s Story:

Ken Smith is a former tennis pro turned Martial Arts Master. He originally became involved in martial arts as a way to train himself in focus and concentration for his tennis game but it quickly became his passion. Ken quickly realized, after just a very short time, that martial arts offered value in all aspects of his life, not just the training for his tennis game.

After Ken became a 3rd Level Black Belt, an opportunity presented itself for him to open his own school. This endeavor has continued to open doors for him, both professionally and personally.

One of his earliest ‘flashpoints’ came early on when he had a female student who had been sexually assaulted by a previous partner. He started contacting other schools to find out how best to work with people in her situation. What he found was that many schools only offered a 1-2 day self-defense class. He knew that he wanted to do something more comprehensive and spent time with law enforcement and sexual abuse counselors formulating a special program for women.

Today, he does special seminars on that topic, as well as many others and his school offers programs for all ages, abilities and interests. He is now entering his 30th year of being a Martial Arts professional and has his own school in Palm Beach, Florida.

Ken is all-in about martial arts being the path to empowerment and self-confidence for his students, every age and level from child to adult. His special interests are women’s self-defense as well as advancing the truth of martial arts being a holistic approach to the whole person-the body and the mind, the physical and the mental.

    Most Influential Person:

    • That would definitely be his cousin Lynda. When he achieved his 1st level Black Belt, she sent him a book about developing himself as a human being, now that he had been developing himself in physical training. This book put him more on the spiritual path of martial arts-she was a major impetus for him to become developed in both the external and internal arts.
    • One thing that he pursued on this path was attending a program in MA about Chinese medicine and other complementary ways of healing the mind and body.

    Biggest Challenges:

    • For Ken, it’s a fools’ errand to look back on mistakes with regret. We should look back without judgment and remember to have patience with and have forgiveness for ourselves.
    • The mistakes we make decide who we become-everything is a part of our learning curve.

    Life’s Lowest Point:

    • His lowest points were emotional and came with both the death of his sister and his maternal grandmother.
    • He realizes now that he was young and just did not have the emotional tools to deal with their deaths and his loss.
    • These experiences really taught him how to treat people with more kindness.

    Defining Success?:

    • Success is not about the accumulation of money and physical things-it’s about living from moment to moment in awareness. When you live for the moment, you are living life to the fullest and that is of paramount importance.
    • For people who think they’ve ‘arrived’ when they reach a certain goal point, that is not really success because they stop learning.
    • Life is not static-it is dynamic and it changes. Therefore, your definitions of success have to be flexible to come with those changes.

    Defining living in your Purpose:

    • He is a role model, not just in business, but for his family. That means doing the best that he can every day and leaving nothing on the table.
    • Professionally, it means helping people live up to “Black Belt Excellence” in all aspects of their life. It’s fun, it’s liberating, and you learn to live a life of no regrets.

Advice on how to be All-In:

    • Do your best. Take out the excuses.
    • Stop waiting for the stars to align perfectly-that doesn’t happen.
    • Just begin. It’s that simple. Have a clearly defined intent and purpose and pursue something that is passionate to you.
    • Divinity and providence will assist you as long as you’re in. If you never start something, then higher forces don’t get an opportunity to help you along.

17: What is Your Entrepreneurial Personality Type with Alex Charfen

17: What is Your Entrepreneurial Personality Type with Alex Charfen

    Daniel Giordano

    About Alex Charfen

Alex Charfen is a husband and father as well as a consultant to some of the world’s biggest companies. He works closely with his wife, Cadey, in their business, Charfen, which is geared toward helping entrepreneurs and small businesses realize their potential in a very innovative format. He calls the concept ‘Congruency’ and his ideas are starting a revolution.

Alex has prospered personally and professionally, with Congruency as the centerpiece of his business and life. His mantra is simple: “I wake up every day determined to be the best husband I can be, the best father I can be, and to help as many people as possible achieve their goals. I have found a way to build my business with these values, not in spite of them. And I’ve learned that when small business owners really do this, long-term success is practically guaranteed.”

The frameworks created by Charfen are being used by businesses around the world. He is very passionate about the entrepreneurial mindset and how important it is to play to our strengths and not let labels and self-limiting beliefs hold us back.

    Alex’s Story:

As a child immigrant from Mexico in the 1970’s, Alex struggled a lot in school. When he arrived in the United States, speaking Spanish in school was not allowed and although he could learn and absorb what he was being taught at a very fast rate, he was not able to communicate that very well. He spent his elementary years bouncing back between Special Education and Gifted & Talented programs before finally being placed in a “normal” class when he reached the fifth grade.

Because he couldn’t communicate well and because he was learning at such a fast pace, this resulted in a lot of restlessness and what society normally calls “behavioral” problems. It was not until he reached his freshman year of high school, that he met the teacher who would become his lifelong mentor. By accident, he had enrolled in an Advanced Communications class and one of the first things Rick Lara, the teacher, told the class was that “everything that happened yesterday is the past; you have the opportunity to do something new right now”. This class, and the principles of communication he learned, were life-changing for him and he found structure and success, going on to become the Captain of the team as well as winning multiple awards. To this day, 29 years later, Rick is still his coach.

Alex went on, as an adult, to manage several businesses, then start several businesses, and is now a consultant for other entrepreneurs to help them find their way and rise above self-limiting beliefs that hold back momentum and success.

    Researching the Entrepreneurial Archetype

    • One of the things that Alex and his team have found, after researching and analyzing thousands of entrepreneurs, is that they all have the same basic attributes, behaviors and life trajectories:
      1. They are restless
      2. They don’t learn like everyone else
      3. They don’t think like everyone else
    • For all entrepreneurs, they are momentum-based beings who feel alive when they are moving forward and when they are helping others, life is good.
    • Every successful person shares this story but for some reason we, as entrepreneurs, miss it and start believing the rest of the world that ISN’T like us and that we need to change and not be ourselves.

    Most Influential Person:

    • Alex Charfen’s biggest influence comes from Rick Lara his teacher from 29 years ago and is still coaching Alex.

    Biggest Challenges:

    • While Alex wouldn’t change anything along his journey because it’s all led to the wonderful place he’s in now. Alex wishes he had more awareness of his self-limiting beliefs earlier in his life. because we don’t want to appear vulnerable.
    • Alex would say to anyone who’s on the entrepreneurial path today to be completely transparent and completely honest and live to the highest ethic.
    • By not telling people when you need help, you are only increasing the noise and pressure in your own life which keeps you down. When you hold yourself at the highest ethic, momentum almost creates itself because the most powerful people want to engage with you.

    Life’s Lowest Point:

    • There hasn’t been just one. The life of an entrepreneur can be full of ups and downs. Very, very early in his career, he did have some very low points when he realized how miserable he was being to his employees at one job and then having to fire people at the job after that.
    • However, all of these low points taught him valuable lessons. Every entrepreneur struggles with questions and has times when they feel very unique, alone and not understood.

Alex’s Definition of Living in his Purpose:

    • There is an entire industry, with $40Billion invested per year in marketing, which tells society what’s wrong with them. They take the symptoms of constraint (such as depression or hyperactivity), bundle them together and label them as disorders. This results in people getting permanent labels and being ‘damaged’.
    • He wants to change that in OUR lifetime.  He is working to develop approaches and systems, a backlash to this industry, where children will be assessed on their STRENGTHS, not their weaknesses.

Advice on how to be All-In:

    • Figure out your strengths and where you have momentum and build on that. It will result in a transformative experience.

You’ll know it’s there, so you’re going to use a beautiful piece of wood in the back. For you to sleep well at night, the aesthetic, the quality, has to be carried all the way through.” Hani sums this up by saying this “The small details matters for the user experience: making sure things look good on the inside and the outside is designed properly.

In February of 2010, Zach took the leap and started working from home full-time. After almost shipwrecking his family financially, he finally started having success in the home business niche… primarily by using the Amazon selling platform.
